Hey bookworms! How are you lately? Are you getting some reading done lately? Personally, I have been struggling a bit so I hope making this post will help me get back into reading.
Last Book Read
Prince Charming by Rachel Hawkins | I will admit I was mildly disappointed by this book. My main issue with this book was that it seemed a little too fast paced and as a result, a lot of things that seemed major or important would be brushed to the side. For example, some detail is made out to be a huge deal or even a scandal and then it’s just tossed aside and cuts into a new scene. Leaves you hanging until chapters later you get “oh yeah so about that big thing that wasn’t explained or further mentioned, it was just this and everything’s great now.” It was just annoying for me. I have read other reviews where the their issue was the inaccuracies of Scotland and I have little to no knowledge to comment on that. Note: this is just my opinion. There are people who have enjoyed this but I was not one of them so don’t let that stop you if you were interested in reading this book.
The Cheerleaders by Kara Thomas | I’ve been wanting to read this for some time now and I finally got the ebook version on sale recently. So far, I an one chapter deep and it is not enough to make a full impression. However, I am wondering if this one thing that is hinted towards the middle of the chapter is what I think it is. If it is, I wonder if it will be explored later or just brushed aside. Other than that, I’m pretty excited to get into this book. It’s been a while since I’ve read a YA mystery/thriller.
Next Book I Plan to Read
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins | Now hear me out, with recent events in the US, a girl has to take some notes about overthrowing the government. (I mean this as a joke, ok? I have a pretty dark sense of humor) Anyway, I have been wanting to reread this trilogy for a while now and since I don’t have any books on my tbr list (lieeeesssss), I decided why not? I haven’t read thee since middle school so I’m pretty excited. Plus, Caleb Joseph’s review of the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes made me want to reread this book even more even though that’s besides the point. (Note: his review is full of spoilers but also pretty funny).
Well that’s where I stand as of now. Let me know what are your current reads or what the last book you read was. Until next time! 😄
