Hi everyone!
Time for another monthly wrap up and I’m proud to say I actually got some decent reading done this month. I managed to finally catch up to my Goodreads challenge and get back into the groove of reading. So, without a further adieu, this is what I read this month.

The Scarlet Letter – Nathaniel Hawthorne | I somewhat forced myself to read this one for the sake of attempting to read a short book. The only way I was able to finish this was by reading it with an audiobook and even then I still found myself only half paying attention.

Wasted Words – Staci Heart | This is inspired by Jane Austen’s Emma (which I haven’t read) and I absolutely loved and devoured it. It was cute, fresh, and cliche, in a good way. This was what kick-started getting out of a book slump for me.

#TheRealCinderella – Yesenia Vargas | This is another modern interpretation of Cinderella and normally I’m a total sucker for fairy-tale retellings but this was not it for me. I did want to like it, I really did, but there were some instances where it wasn’t realistic. To clarify, it was obvious these teens were written by an adult, if that makes sense.

Blue Ashes – Samreena Ashraf | This is a poetry collection covering a multitude of topics such as love, pain, loss, grief, and wanderlust. I did enjoy it, but it wasn’t exactly memorable for me. Not that it was bad, it just didn’t click with me.

The Things We Don’t Talk About – Anthony Martinez | Another poetry collection that didn’t really pull me in. Once again, I’m not saying it was bad, I’m just saying it didn’t hit the spot for me.

The Loneliest Girl in the Universe – Lauren James | My goodness this book… I read this all in one day and I am just flabbergasted. This probably has been the first 5-star rated book I’ve read in a while. About the first half of the book, it can seem confusing, but then the second half completely blows your mind. Just to be clear, it is definitely not a sci-fi romance as you may think.

And that’s a wrap! I decided to do a separate post for a book haul since I may have gotten carried away with ebooks 🤭🙈 Until next time!

Ooh, I had not heard of Wasted Words before, but now I need to check it out! I didn’t have the best reading month in May because of finals, but now that my semester’s over, I’m hoping to have more time to read!
I hope you have a wonderful June!

I hope you like Wasted Words as much as I did! And I know what it’s like to have school get in the way of reading, but I’m sure June will be great. Have a nice day! 😊
