Hey bookworms! I know I have been slacking these past few weeks since the semester started. It’s been quite hectic and I’m still trying to establish a set schedule; not just blogging wise, but also school and life wise. For now let’s dive into the January wrap up and haul! 😀
Love’s Cycle – Pablo Camacho | I gave this a 3/5 stars. I thought the poetry was okay, but it just didn’t impact me as much as I would have hoped.
Daisy Jones & The Six – Taylor Jenkins Reid | I gave this a 4/5 stars. I really did like this, but there were a few things I did not like (but cannot bring to mind….)
Ziggyology: A Brief History Of Ziggy Stardust – Simon Goddard | I gave this a 3 1/2 stars out of 5. Don’t get me wrong I love David Bowie and was really excited for this book, but the writing style just wasn’t for me. It’s a gorgeous book nonetheless (the inside cover has a gorgeous Ziggy pattern and the edges are sprayed bright orange.
Supernova – Marissa Meyer | I gave this a 5/5. Holy cow! That was an action-packed book. It definitely picked up the slack from book 2 and if you know how it ended…. can I just say, we might need a spin-off. (Selfish plug: Renegades trilogy BP here and here)
The Four Agreements – Miguel Ruiz | I rated this 3/5, however that should not stop me from recommending this book. It is a self-help book which my friend got me to read just from this one page she sent me. It may have not helped me entirely, but it may help someone else.
The first four are from a friend who made me a care package (bless her soul).
The Madman’s Daughter – Megan Shepherd | I haven’t heard about this one and I’m intrigued by the title.
Escaping Salem – Richard Goodbeer | I am now just realizing the author’s last name 😂
Heavy Metal and You – Christopher Krovalin | This book is so tiny and cute.
Creepy Little Bedtime Stories – Christy A. Mueller-Masel | I have a lot of niblings in my life (currently 9) and my friend thought some of them would like these. When they sleep over I read them bedtime stories; their favorite being Buenas Noches Luna or Goodnight Moon in English. I’m sure one of my nieces would love these.
The Looking Glass Wars – Frank Beddor | This one and the following 2 books are from the same trilogy of the same name. Y’all believe me when I tell you I have never picked up a book so fast. I saw this at an indie bookstore I go to the and saw how it’s Alice in Wonderland retelling and i just had to get it. I’m not the religious type but ma’am/sir/person I was blessed to find the whole trilogy in paperback. Can’t wait to read these 😍
Seeing Red – Frank Beddor | book 2 of the Looking Glass Wars
Arch Enemy – Frank Beddor | book 3 of the Looking Glass Wars
Bedtime for Batman – Michael Dahl | As mentioned I have a lot of children in my life so I have books on my shelf to read to them. Now I love Batman so if I didn’t get this for the kids I would’ve gotten it for myself too. That being said, I may have influenced my godson to love Batman as well (he said “Batman” before he ever said “mommy”) and he loves to “read,” he’s almost 2, so I’m sure he’ll love this as well.
Daisy Jones & The Six – Taylor Jenkins Reid
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder – Holly Jackson | I think this book is coming out soon but I was just approved for this. Keep an eye out for a review sometime this month. 👁😁
That’s all for the month of January. Let’s see where February takes us 😊
