Bookish Playlists

Bookish Playlist: Renegades

Hey bookworms! School has been very much lately and I haven’t been able to write posts. So with the release of Supernova by Marissa Meyer, I decided to reread Renegades and Archenemies. Then I realized I never made a book playlist for either book. I just finished Renegades and have my songs picked out. Some time soon I’ll make another one for Archenemies and Supernova. Now before I begin, just a quick disclaimer.

Disclaimer: there will be spoilers. If you do not wish to be spoiled or have not read Renegades yet, I suggest clicking away.

Head Over Feet – Alanis Morissette | Starting off with a song for Adrian and Nova. This song reminded me of Nova and how she is starting to get feelings for Adrian. Lyrics: “You treat me like I’m a princess/I’m not used to liking that/You ask how my day was/You’ve already won me over in spite of me/And don’t be alarmed if I fall head over feet/And don’t be surprised if I love you for all that you are/I couldn’t help it/It’s all your fault”

Dead End Justice – The Runaways | If this were a musical, I could totally see Ingrid and Nova (before she backstabbed the Anarchists) coming up with their plans to kill the renegades to this song. Obviously some changes are to be made in the lyrics to fit the plot if it were a musical.

Wanted Dead or Alive – Bon Jovi |Feel like this could go both for the Sentinel and Nightmare. No one knows who they are , who they work for, which naturally makes them wanted people.

Dream Warriors – Dokken | Ok so, I thought “hey Nightmare should have a villain-y theme song.” I wanted one that had nightmare in the title but didn’t find one I liked. This was the next best thing I found that I felt captured her character. Lyrics: “With the dream warriors/ Don’t want to dream no more/ With the dream warriors/ And maybe tonight /Maybe tonight you’ll be gone”

The Final Countdown – Europe | This could be me just being dramatic but this could be played during the final showdown (excuse the pun – I couldn’t resist) between Ingrid (The Detonator) and Nova (Nightmare).

Looks That Kill – Mötley Crüe | Now it’s time for a song Adrian might use to describe Nova. Lyrics: “Now listen up /She’s razor sharp/ If she don’t get her way /She’ll slice you apart /Now she’s a cool, cool black /She moves like a cat /If you don’t get her name /Well you might not make it back /She’s got the looks that kill”

Youth Gone Wild – Skid Row | So maybe the Anarchists aren’t all that young at the time this takes place, but once upon a time they were and this song could be the Anarchists’ theme song during the Age of Anarchy.

I Want the One I Can’t Have – The Smiths | Finishing off with a song for both Ruby and Oscar because we can ALL sense the romantic tension between them right?? At times I feel like that clip from Spongebob where Patrick is holding a shrunken Squidward and is trying to make him kiss a pickle.

Ok, so I decided to add 2 more bonus songs that aren’t related to the plot or any of the characters but are hero themed.

Flash’s Theme – Queen

Holding Out for a Hero – Bonnie Tyler

Hope you enjoyed this bookish playlist. The next bookish playlist will be Archenemies once I finish rereading the book, which I have yet to make a dent in it.

Until next time!
