Hey bookworms! So while scrolling through my feed I found this readathon and thought why not? We all need breaks from being constantly on our phones or computers from time to time so why not now? The basic goal of this readathom is to read as much as you can with no distractions, specifically from your phone. Here are some basic details on the readathon!
- The readathom will start 12:00 am Friday, October 18 and ends at 11:59 pm on Sunday night in your own time zone.
- Only goal is to read as much as you can and stay focused on your book with no distractions. Which brings me to the only rule this challenge has – stay off your phone!! (which I am extending to any sort of electronic because I’m on a computer almost all day).
- However, just because it’s a readathon, does not mean you have to abandon anything going on in your life like work/kids/etc. For example, I have 2 midterms to study for yet I’m doing this to give myself a break from studying and just relax.

What I’ll be reading this weekend:
The first book is In the Hall with the Knife by Diana Peterfreund. I’m so close to finishing this, I think about 100 pages left (?), and I want to finish it so I can final write a review for it.
The next book is The Dark Descent of Emily Frankenstein by Kiersten White. I’ve been meaning to read this since last year and I keep forgetting about it. Doesn’t help that with the way I organize my books, this is stored towards the back of one of my shelves so it’s not really visible.
The last two books are rather short so I’m grouping them together: More Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark 3 by Alvin Schwartz. I always say, “oh I can read one book before bed.” but next thing you know, I’m scrolling through Twitter or TikTok (don’t judge it’s secretly addicting).
So far I have four books to read and hopefully I can at least make a dent in that list. I feel like I’m falling a bit behind on my 2019 reading challenge and school just ain’t helping. As mentioned before, I have 2 midterms to study for and I’m sure at some point I’ll feel overwhelmed so it’s good to have a moment to sit back and relax with a good book.
I’m thinking about providing updates on (ironically) my Instagram on the challenge and then write a full breakdown on Monday. Just to clarify, I’ll only update on Instagram after I’m done reading for whatever amount of minutes or hour I manage to get. If all goes well, I just might try to incorporate this in my daily life or just wait until the next readathon lol.
