Spooky Book Playlist

Hey bookworms! I know I skipped last week but it was a crazy one I tell you! I had several exams to prep for and barely had any time for myself. However, I am back with more spooky themed posts as promised. This time I am putting a twist to the playlist book tag (I’m no sure who the original author of that tag is so if you know please let me know). The rules are still the same except I will be shuffling my spooky playlist.

The Rules: put your playlist on shuffle and pick a book that reminds you of that song whether it’s a character, a scene, etc.

  1. Zombie – The Cranberries | For this I picked The Furies by Katie Lowe just because they’re both from the 90s and I can really sense the angsty rebellious teen mood from the characters in the book.
  2. Bark at the Moon – Ozzy Osbourne | I chose Survive the Night by Danielle Vega because the lyrics are eerie if you read them and it matches the overall mood of this book. Plus I can totally picture this song playing while the characters are in this underground rave although this song is sooo not a rave type of song.
  3. Grim Grinning Ghosts – The Melomen | Serafine and the Black Cloak by Robert Beaty | I had to choose a Disney book for this song so I went with a cutesy spooky Disney book.
  4. They’re Coming to Take Me Away – Sloppy Jane | This one might be a little fucked up (excuse my language) and I’m sorry but I chose Girl, Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen. Just have a listen and maybe you can see the connection. Once again, I’m sorry if it’s a little messed up to pair the two.
  5. Black No. 1 – Type O Negative | For this I chose Brooklyn from The Merciless by Danielle Vega, specifically book three where it goes further into detail about her past. Pretty much her transition from normal Brooklyn to possessed goth bitch Brooklyn is what reminds me of this song.
  6. Season of the Witch – Lana Del Rey | This is a tough one… I feel like I need the perfect example for this lol. Ok, so after going to my shelves and staring at them blankly, I have decided that this song is so fitting for Queen Levana from the Lunar Chronicles. She isn’t a witch but she is a bitch and Lana’s interpretation of Donovan’s song is like it was made for Levana.

Hope you enjoyed that! Feel free to try this version of the playlist book tag if you’d like. Consider yourself tagged. 🙂 Until next time!
