Hey bookworms! I thought I’d join in on this tag since I missed it last year. I’m probably late in posting this too but better late than never right? I’m not sure where it orignaed from but whoever the creator is, you have been credited.
1. best book you’ve read so far in 2019
I have to go with A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer. I went in with little expectations and was blown away. I was so hooked from the beginning and it left me in a book hangover for more Beauty and the Beast retellings. Can’t wait for book 2!!
2. best sequel you’ve read so far in 2019
I haven’t really read series this year and the only sequel I have is Legendary by Stephanie Garber, which I did really enjoy.
3. new release you haven’t read yet, but want to
I’ve been having my eye on A Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson. I just need to buy it.
4. most anticipated release for the second half of the year
Supernova by Marissa Meyer!! I am DYING to know how it all ends and I am both terrified and excited for it.
5. biggest disappointment
10 Things I Can See From Here by Carrie Mac. I’ve talked about this before so I’ll keep it short. I went in with very specific expectations due to the topic it deals with and I really let down.
6. biggest surprise
Ever Alice by H. J. Ramsay. There were times where I was reading and got so confused by the characters and figuring out who’s who or I got bored with how descriptive some scenes were but towards the end I was HOOKED, I tell you. I didn’t expect much (maybe like a 3 star review at the least) but towards the end I was pleasantly surprised.
7. favorite new author (debut or new to you)
I’m going with Claudia Grey. I read Defy the Stars and HOLY COW I was completely in love with the whole thing. She has such a way to write space operas that make you feel all the feels and as if you’re in there with them. I can’t wait to read more!!
8. newest fictional crush
Rhen from A Curse So Dark and Lonely. I couldn’t help but swoon over him the entire time.
9. newest favorite character
Abel from Defy the Stars. I absolutely loved his character and it just makes me want to hug him and protect him from everything and everyone. A pure cinnamon roll.
10. book that made you cry (saddest book you have read)
What to Say Next by Julie Buxbaum. Omg this book… despite my issues with it, I couldn’t help but feel bad for David. He could say something wrong and as the reader you know what he’s thinking and how his mental state can alter that but you realize that the other characters don’t. Say he did or said something he shouldn’t have, you see his rationale for it but you can’t help but feel bad because everyone else took it the wrong way and they don’t know he didn’t intend for things to go the way they did and to see him wondering why people reacted the way they did. I didn’t necessarily cry but I did get sad.
11. book that made you happy
The Disasters by M. K. England. This combined 2 of my (many) favorite films! (Guardians of the Galaxy and Breakfast Club) I loved it so much and was sad to hear it’s only a standalone. Although it ended at a good point, I would like to read more about the team going on other adventures or something like that.
12. favorite book to film adaptation you saw this year
Not sure if I have seen any or if I have, then I forgot.
13. favorite review you’ve written this year
Haven’t really written many reviews this year so I can’t really say.
14. most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received)
Legendary by Stephanie Garber. Out of the 3 books this cover is my favorite.
15. what books do you need to read by the end of the year
I’m a mood reader so I can’t really pick what I want to read ahead of time.
That’s all for today folks! I’m sorry for the lack of pictures. It’s really late when I’m writing this and I have little energy left in me so sorry. Anyway, share your answers to any of these questions in the comments. I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Until next time!
