Book Haul, Wrap Up

June 2019 Wrap Up

Hey bookworms! Sorry this post is a little late, things have been busy… personal wise. This past month I read a grand total of 9 books! Which is a lot for me since lately I’ve been struggling to stay focused when reading.

Wrap Up

Don’t Tell Me to Be Quiet – Christina Hart // my rating: ☆☆☆ – I won this in a giveaway in May. It wasn’t terrible, it’s good, I just wasn’t feeling a connection. Kind of like you just read it without feeling it (if that makes sense).

Black Book of Poems I & II – Vincent Hunanyan // my (average) rating: ☆☆☆.5 – (Grouping these 2 together just because) I really liked the first part; it was beautiful and I connected with a lot of poems but I wasn’t feeling the same vibes by the time I got to the second part.

Finale – Stephanie Garber // my rating: ☆☆☆☆☆ – the bittersweet ending to the Caraval trilogy… I honestly did not want this to end but at the same time I was very curious to see how Garber will tie this trilogy all together. It was a teeny bit predictable (in my opinion) not in a bad sense more like reassurance. also there’s this one part that to me it sounds like an easter egg for a possible spin off and that’s all I’ll say about that

If There’s No Tomorrow – Jennifer L. Armentrout // my rating: ☆☆☆☆ – I’ve talked about this before so I’ll keep it short. I really enjoyed the main theme as well as the character development for the main character but I don’t like the cliche beginning.

Geekerella – Ashley Poston // my rating: ☆☆☆☆☆ – I was plesantly surprised with this book. I didn’t have many expectations going into this, but I really enjoyed it once I got into it. In fact I finished it the same day (at 2 am the next day but still).

A Curse So Dark and Lonely – Brigid Kemmerer // my rating: ☆☆☆☆☆ (I wish I could give it all the stars) I went in with little to no expectations and I was blown away. This is probably the best Beauty and the Beast retelling I have ever read (so far). I was so hooked into it that it has kept me in a Beauty and the Beast mood for quite some time. (at the time of this post I am still looking for more retellings because I can’t get enough)

A Court of Thorns and Roses – Sarah J. Maas // my rating: ☆☆☆☆ – Probably one of the most famous Beauty and the Beast “retellings” out there so of course I had to reread it. Which should act as a kick in the shin to get me to finish the rest of the series/trilogy (whatever it is).

Beauty and the Beast – Rachel L. Demeter // my rating: ☆☆☆☆ – At first I wasn’t entirely feeling it but I quickly got into it once you get passed the sexual assault scenes (I’ll note now that’s the main trigger warning I noticed, oh, and mature content, which I applaud the author for noting it in the book’s description).

*All I got this month were ebooks because I’m trying to save money and I only bought books that were on sale*

If There’s No Tomorrow – Jennifer L. Armentrout

A Curse so Dark and Lonely – Brigid Kemmerer

Beauty and the Beast – Rachel L. Demeter

That’s all for today folks! I would include my current reads but I don’t really have one at the moment. I started A Court of Mist and Fury but I’ve been on page 30 or something for the past 2 weeks so…. yeah. See you next time!
