Hey bookworms! I know it’s been a while since my last post and I know I give excuse after excuse everytime. I’ve been having a hard time keeping up with the blog, reviews, and bookstagram due to insecurities. (I’m working on that, trust me)
Anyway, here’s what I managed to read this past month.
Noisy Outlaws, Unfriendly Blobs, and Some Other Things That Aren’t As Scary – Ted Thompson | Almost DNF’d this book because I just didn’t really see the point in most of the short stories. To me they felt like they were missing something to spice it up as little bit or they just didn’t make sense. I ended up giving it two stars on Goodreads but now | feel like I was being generous.
Insurgent – Veronica Roth | I’m not going to lie I had to DNF this book. I just wasn’t into it anymore. I thought taking a break from this world would help but I just couldn’t get back into it. Might come back to it in the future to try again.
Winter – Marissa Meyer | FINALLY finished the Lunar Chronicles and I’m so proud of myself. Now I just need to read the 2 novellas that come after and catch up on her other books.
Stolen – Lucy Christopher | I’M STILL NOT OVER THIS BOOK. I sort of explained why on the bookish playlist I made for it, but in case you missed it, here’s why. It’s predictable and I hated how it still kept me intrigued. Even though I knew what was going to happen I couldn’t put the book down because I still wanted to see how it turned out. I think I gave this 3.5 stars, can’t remember exactly.
Me & Earl & the Dying Girl – Jesse Andrews | This had potential for greatness. It really did. I’m sorry, but I found Greg pretty annoying and had too much self-pitty. After finishing it, I watched the film and I think the film made me more sad than the actual book. As with Stolen, I think I gave it 3.5 stars.
And that was it. I’m still really behind on my reading goal so I need to pump up these rookie numbers fast.
The Queen of the Tearling – Erika Johansen | Started this last month but I haven’t gotten fully into it to finish it in time.
A Court of Mist and Fury – Sarah J. Maas | Finally (!!!) decided to pick up where I left off after putting it off for so long. Although I’m sort of dreading it 1) because of its length and 2) because I heard a slight spoiler about a character that so far I like and I don’t want to ruin the image I have of them.
Stolen – Lucy Christopher
Me & Earl & the Dying Girl – Jesse Andrews
Hopefully this month I will do much better even though I start school towards the end. I’m tired of being in this slump so if you know any good short books or standalones, let me know. (I mostly like to read within the YA category and any kind of poetry).
Until next time!
