Hey Bookworms! It’s that time again and I know for a fact that this month’s wrap up will be short. I didn’t meet my monthly goal but I did manage to squeeze a few books in there.
I Hope My Voice Doesn’t Skip – Alicia Cook | Happy belated book birthday to this amazing poetry collection. I was very please with the amount of growth I sensed in Alicia’s poetry compared to her previous collection, Stuff I’ve Been Feeling Lately. You can read my review here.
Worlds of You – Beau Taplin | Another favorite poet who’s writing also grew from the last collection they published. This may be my favorite book Taplin has come out with so far. You can also read my review here.
And that’s it. I only read two out of the three arcs I received through NetGalley.
Ziggyology: A Brief History of Ziggy Stardust – Simon Goddard | I wasn’t really planning on buying books since I still have the arcs from Epic Reads to read and review, but I couldn’t pass this beauty. I absolutely love David Bowie and his music has a great impact on my life. At first I almost didn’t get it because I thought it would be over my price limit being hardcover but it was only $10! So on impulse I bought it.
22 Scars – C.M. North | I went into this knowing the possible triggers that it could cause, but I never really expected it to be quite detailed. This is one of the three arcs I received from NetGalley and I honestly think this will end up in the DNF pile. The triggers were very detailed and I felt myself remembering the time of the Event (aka my dark times) which is something I don’t want to remember. I was interested in reading about a girl who also has depression but I don’t think I can anymore.
Heart of Stone – I.D. Russell | This is the first book I’ve read since Worlds of You to try to get out of a reading slump. Although it is quite cheesy and has a Pretty In Pink vibe, it’s still pretty interesting. It’s short too so I=it should be an easy read to get back on the reading track.
Hopefully I’ll be able to read more this month. I will be leaving to San Francisco in 2 weeks so I’ll be reading the drive there. If any of you know any indie bookstores there let me know!
Until next time!
