Top 5 Wednesday

Top 5 Wednesday: 5/2/18

Hey Bookworms!

I know I haven’t been posting but I am almost done with this semester which means finals are coming up and things have been hectic lately. I’m trying to get things sorted out so I can have time to blog. Besides that, this month the Top 5 Wednesday topics are freebies meaning I can choose whatever I like.

Insta-Buys: Books I bought Because of Bookstagram

*believe it or not there are quite a few*

Cinder – Marissa Meyer | At first when I saw this at Target I didn’t think much of it and only skimmed the description. It wasn’t until I saw people raving about it on bookstagram that I decided to give it a chance and only then was when I discovered it featured a badass female cyborg mechanic (fyi: I took auto mechanics all through high school and it was about time I found a book that featured a female mechanic).

Everything Everything – Nicola Yoon | This was mostly a cover buy because it’s gorgeous but I was introduced to it via bookstagram. Then I heard it was becoming a movie starring the hottie Nick Robinson from Jurassic World and I was like I NEED to read/see this. Next thing you know, my sister got it for my birthday and then I saw the movie online within 2 days.

Heartless – Marissa Meyer | After Cinder I fell in love with Marissa Meyer and then I kept seeing this one on my feed and was very intrigued by the cover. When I looked into it and saw it was about the Red Queen, I had to get it. I LOVE Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and any retellings that authors have made. When I finally got my hands on it, I devoured it and it honestly left me with a hole in my heart. I will never get over the ending and part of me wishes it was a series, but I also feel like it ended at a good place.

And I Darken – Kiersten White | Another one I kept seeing all over my feed and was intrigued by the cover and then fell in love with the description. I live for strong female protagonists and although it’s not a genre I typically read I decided to give it a try. So one (hot) day I left Uni during my class and made the 2 mile walk from Uni to Target just to buy this book. I was lucky enough that the only copy there was also signed which made the whole trip worth it. (except on my way back I called a friend who happened to be driving to school pick me up and drive me back because my feet were burning from the cement).

Me Before You – Jojo Moyes | For a certain time, no matter where I looked, I saw this book and I saw people talking about how screwed up (not in a bad way) this book was and how much they cried and well I was like what are they talking about. So one day I asked one bookstagrammer what was it about and what’s with the hype and then they told me (without spoilers of course) and I don’t know what possessed me to think hey I could use a good cry and read a book that will tear me apart. Then I saw that my friend was reading the book and I asked if I could borrow it and she let me. From the start I was hooked and about 3/4 of the way I felt myself getting emotional and then I surrounded myself with tissue boxes for the last 1/4. I have NEVER had a book that made me cry that much. And then the film came out and oh my there goes another crying fest.

That’s all for today folks! Let me know if there are any books you bought because of Instagram.

Until next time!
